The Israeli Forum for Information Specialists in Hitech (I-FISH) was founded in 2001 and is managed by Sarit Haim and Inbar Yasur. The forum began with an emphasis on the field of high-tech but has grown to include information specialists throughout all branches of Israeli industry. The forum members meet every three months. The meeting includes a workshop on innovations in search tools or strategies, a lecture by one of the members on a current topic, and an open panel allowing free interchange between members of the forum. The success of the forum lies in the fact that its members not only have the opportunity to learn but also to contribute of their own knowledge to others. The forum started out with 15 members and today its rolls include more than 400 active information specialists, working both in industry and as independent consultants. The aims of the forum: - Sharing of knowledge between colleagues working in similar fields.
- Allowing individual independent information specialists to meet and exchange ideas with others who might be dealing with similar situations in their day-to-day work, reducing the isolation of the solo consultant.
